Program areas at Alliance Francaise de Chicago
The learning center at the Alliance continued to offer a broad range of courses at all levels of french, for toddlers to adult audiences. Subjects ranged from french language, grammar, literature, business french, cooking, gastronomy, current events and film. Our building reopened in september 2021 for onsite classes and we also continued to offer our classes and programs online. In summer 2022, youth summer camp ran onsite for nine weeks in june, july, and august.
The library/mediatheque maintained a circulation of 2,850 volumes per annum on 14,000 titles for the year. Author events, book talks, and conversation groups were mostly online.
Programs during 2022 included cultural events such as talks and round tables by authors, film directors, musicians, art historians and academics; films, and reading and conversations groups. We had a mix of onsite and online programs with one very successful series of online lectures on french gardens. Our annual month-long celebration of french speaking countries with representation of all french speaking delegations in Chicago took place in march 2022 onsite. In summer 2022 we had a seriesof outdoor concerts in our courtyard. Our biennial fundraising event took place onsite in may 2022 and our psring series of three lectures on the arts of france took place onsite.
