Program areas at Alliance Francaise de Los Angeles

Language classesthe Alliance Francaise is a french language school in the city of Los Angeles. Daily, evening and saturday classes are available year round. We teach adults and children, in group and private classes. Our curriculum has been modeled after the common european framework standards and has been developed as a part of the af frames project (af french american educational standards). We are part of an international organization of Alliance Francaise in 136 countries around the world. Class registration is online at www.afdela.org. A free placement test is available online for anyone to determine their level of french. During 2023, we served 988 adult and 234 kids/teen students.
Workshopsour program Alliance Francaise extension offers monthly workshops in french. For our students, it is a great way to challenge their skills with a cultural activity in french. Each month this year we ran different workshops online, including:- cine club: watch a movie at home and meet the students online for a discussion moderated by a teacher- book club: read a book at home and meet the students online for a discussion moderated by a teacher- history workshop: the teacher introduces the students to a specific period of history via a pdf presentation followed by a discussion - art history workshop: the teacher introduces the students to a specific theme via a pdf presentation followed by a discussion- pronunciation or grammar workshops: master your french pronunciation or focus on specific french grammar difficulties with a teacher
Examinationsthe Alliance Francaise of Los Angeles is a passation center for the delf certifications. The delf (diplome d'etudes en langue Francaise) and the dalf (diplome approfondi en langue Francaise) are official diplomas awarded by the french ministry of education to assess and to certify foreign candidates' proficiency in french. These diplomas are valid for life and provide the candidate with a quality french-level certification, useful to carry out specific personal, academic or professional projects. Delf-dalf test is the same worldwide. It is composed of 6 independent diplomas corresponding to the common european framework of reference for languages: delf a1, delf a2, delf b1, delf b2, dalf c1 et dalf c2. The delf b2 affords access to all french universities and to an ever-growing number of european and francophone universities, eliminating the need for pre- admission french language tests. We also conduct the test de connaissance du francais (tcf). The tcf is the french language test awarded by the french ministry of education. The tcf examination assesses a person's level of french language for general purposes. It is intended for people who are not native french speakers and who, for professional, personal, or academic reasons, wish to have their competency in french assessed and certified simply, reliably and quickly. 5 different types of tcf:- tcf irn- intgration, rsidence et nationalit franaise- tcf q for quebec- tcf tp for the general public- tcf dap for students | replaced by tcf - tp+writing- tcf canada for immigration and citizenship
Cultural events & lecturesour goal with the cultural events and lectures program is to encourage the study of the french language, and to promote and enhance the knowledge and appreciation of french and francophone cultures. We host monthly french film screenings, tasting events, book signings, and conferences year round in our effort to promote french culture. We partner with the french consulate of Los Angeles, the university of California la and the university of southern California, and with numerous other organizations in Los Angeles to create and promote french culture. During the year, we ran different cultural events online including:- meet an actor, singer or author: discussion led by a teacher- accordion mini concert: discover this ancient musical instrument and listen young players- cooking classes: discover a french cooking recipe and learn how to make it with a famous chef- story in french for kids
