Program areas at Alliance Housing
Alliance Housing rents rooms and apartments to single adults and families in minneapolis. Many of the tenants are low wage workers, formerly homeless, and have been screened out by other owners due to credit, Housing, or criminal histories. Prospective residents must be able to pay their rent and respect the property and their neighbors. Since 1996, Alliance Housing has developed larger supportive Housing projects in partnership with other organizations and on its own. Some of this Housing requires that residents stay sober. Alliance Housing also develops workforce Housing for low wage and entry-level workers. This Housing offers residents an affordable rent in property close to major transportation corridors so they are able to get to work with or without a car.2023/2024 accomplishments:created the opportunity for 336 households to create homes for themselves, regardless of Housing and/or criminal history. The average length of stay in Alliance Housing units is 2.5 years with more than half transitioning to greater Housing stability when they move out. More than half of our tenants would be screened out by other landlords. 50% of tenants increase their income once housed with Alliance, lead to greater long term stability. Secured full funding for kyle garden square, a 59-unit permanent supportive Housing community in elliot park neighborhood of minneapolis. Will begin construction in august, 2024. Improved building occupancy rates to an average of 95%. Completed capital needs assessment on 100% of Housing units to guide long term affordable Housing preservation plan.
