Program areas at Allies for Health Wellbeing
Client services is aimed to improve the quality of life and independence of individuals living with hiv/aids. Services and programs available to clients include: housing, food pantry, transportation assistance, legal services, medical and nonmedical case management, emergency funds support, and consumer advocacy. This program serves more than 700 clients annually, of which 61% identify as non-white.
Community Health and outreach services: the program's purpose is to reduce the number of sexually transmitted diseases among individuals at highest risk by teaching culturally sensitive risk reduction skills. Community Health service includes hiv counseling and testing, community outreach, peer education, speaker's bureau, risk reduction groups and professional training. Community Health also works to eliminate Health disparaties around hiv/aids for african americans in sw Pennsylvania. Community Health reaches over 1,300 individuals annually and conducts more than 3,500 tests for hiv and other stis.
Pharmacy services & Health clinic: the organization's pharmacy services ensure access to medications via home delivery, as well as promoting adherence through special packaging, reminder calls/texts and addressing side effects. The clinic provides specialized care for all individuals, including those living with hiv. Of the more than 1,750 individuals seen in the clinic annually, 36% identify as non-white, and 16% identify as either transgender, genderqueer or an additional gender category. for patients who face challenges to medical care access, including poverty and stigma or discrimination due to their race, sexual orientiation or gender identity, providing culturally competent care in a safe and understanding environment helps remove many barriers to managing Health successfully.
