Facilitating cornea transplants through the recovery, evaluation, processing and distribution of donated corneal tissue, informing the public of the need for cornea donors, arranging for transportation, cornea research and public relations. This program provided the gift of sight to approximately 1,279 people. The eye bank coordinated the recovery of 2,092 tissues from 1,046 donors. These recoveries resulted in providing 1,279 corneas for sight restoring or improving cornea transplant surgery. Additionally, the eye bank provided gratis tissue for 77 transplant surgeries for patients who are uninsured or underinsured.
