Alumni Free Speech Alliance unites alumni groups dedicated to promoting free speech, academic freedom, and viewpoint diversity at their respective colleges and universities. The Alliance creates op-eds for the national media, holds conferences, and runs a website disseminating current news and articles related to free speech and diversity issues. It also assists in building alumni organizations at higher education institutions that aim to cultivate a more open environment for free expression and diverse viewpoints.

Program areas at AFSA

AFSA has a single program service which is to promote formation of and strengthen university and college alumni free speech-viewpoint diversity organizations. During 2023 our services helped bring the total of such organizations nationwide to 25: Boston U Bucknell Columbia U Dartmouth Davidson Furman U Harvard James Madison Lafayette Macalester MIT Michigan State Michigan Tech Princeton Stanford UCLA UCal Berkeley UNC U Penn UVA VMI Washington & Lee Wofford & Yale. We provide organizing and technical assistance to alumni groups in formation e.g. assistance in developing websites and services conduct an annual meeting of members and through our website keep members abreast of developments in the free speech-viewpoint diversity movement. This year we helped in the development of an Amicus Brief regarding the use of automated anonymous student conduct reporting systems on higher ed campuses.
