Program areas at American Academy of Pediatrics District of Columbia Chapter
Bainum Birth to Three Policy Alliance: Through an annual grant from the Bainum Family Foundation, DC AAP participates in the Under 3 DC Coalition and a number of initiatives aimed at improving the health of DC children and families. The grant also provides educational opportunities for pediatric providers through Spring and Fall Symposia, as well as supports community events.
Immunization Program - Three vaccine confidence campaigns were funded through grants from the national AAP organization. Two completed campaigns focused on 1) respiratory illness (RSV, COVID and flu) and 2) measles. The groundwork was laid for additional fall vaccine promotions on early childhood vaccines and HPV.
AAP Programs - AAP Food Insecurity: The chapter continues its third year of Building Pediatrician Capacity in Food Insecurity with the launch of a pilot program for electronic referrals to the DC Government's Women, Infants and Children (DC WIC) program.
All other programs - AAP Project Firstline, AAP Trauma-Informed Care, AAP Disaster Preparedness, AAP Healthy People, Infectious Disease in Schools, Abbott Nutrition Grant, Oral Health and Human Trafficking, Education Fund, and Domestic Violence.
