Program areas at AAP
Annual meeting: the yearly meeting was held in austin, Texas from november 9 to november 12, 2023. With approximately 4,166 attendees, this meeting revolved around presentation of current research findings in various areas of periodontics. Continuing education courses are conducted every year to keep periodontists current with scientific advances and treatment innovations. An exhibit hall provides information on new products available to help periodontists and other dental professionals stay in tune with new and advanced technology, which in turn helps improve the health of the general public.
Committees and workshops: the aap holds and attends various workshops for educators and students in the periodontal field.in-service exam, given each spring, is used by programs directors and students to evaluate their overall learning acquisition and content-based strengths and developmental areas.lunch 'n learn programs are used by educators in various schools to encourage the best and brightest dental students to apply to postdoctoral periodontal programs.awards, given annually, are the student award and outstanding teaching and mentoring award. Approximately 104 student awards and 47 outstanding teaching and mentoring awards are distributed. These are given to top participants in schooling programs.
Publications: contain scientific and clinical information concerning Periodontology and other practice management and patient education material. The journal of Periodontology (jop) is issued monthly, both domestically and internationally. The jop had approximately 6,128 member subscribers, 54 non-member subscribers and 6,966 institutional subscribers. Clinical advances in periodontics (cap) is a journal issued quarterly to all jop subscribers as a bundled subscription (with the jop).periospectives is a quarterly member magazine.all three, due to advertising, are sources of unrelated business income as reported on the 990-t.
