Program areas at American Bearing Manufacturers Association
Annual meeting: the annual meeting is held every spring as a joint event with the American gear Manufacturers Association. The meeting includes numerous networking events, a board meeting, and a number of keynote speakers. Registration is open to employees of abma member companies.
Fall meeting: the abma fall meeting is held every fall as a joint event with the Bearing specialist Association and includes networking events, a board meeting, and a keynote speaker. Registration is open to employees of abma member companies.
Standards: abma publishes a complete set of industry standards for bearings. These standards were either drafted by abmas Bearing technical committee (btc) or nationally adopted from the international organization for standardization (iso). The standards are distributed annually to the member companies, and are available for purchase for nonmembers.
Education: abma organizes several technical education programs throughout the year for engineers that work with bearings both in person and online. Registration is open to members, who receive special pricing, and nonmembers. Included in these programs for 2023 were essential concepts of Bearing technology, lubrication and wear and advanced concepts of Bearing technology which were offered over multiple days, covering engineering concepts relating to the manufacture of bearings. Additionally, abma offered a program in conjunction with mpt expo on Bearing wear.
World Bearing Association partnership: the world Bearing Association (wba) is a partnership formed by abma, the japanese Bearing Association (jbia), and the european Bearing Association (febma). The wba is active in global anticounterfeiting efforts and industry statistics collection. In 2023, the wba held educational sessions for customs officials in several countries to help identify counterfeit Bearing products. In the fall of 2023, the wba held a general assembly of its members hosted by abma in chicago, Illinois.
