Program areas at American College of Diabetology

New Fellowship Positions: One of ACD's major goals is to fund new Diabetology Fellowship Programs in more locations to train Diabetologists. We funded one new programs in December 2023. We plan to fund two more programs in January 2024 two more in May of 2024 and up to three more programs in October 2024.
Diabetology Board Exam: American College of Diabetology successfully administered the first ever Diabetology board exam in December 2023. After receiving training from the NBOME on question writing an exam rubric was developed with specific percentages of sub-topics to be tested. Over 280 questions were written and refined. Criteria for eligibility to take the exam were developed and 24 diabetologists took the exam in Pearson Vue test centers across the country. Data was collected and analyzed by the NBOME and questions that didn't perform well were eliminated. People who successfully passed the exam were awarded a certificate.
ACD Conference: We hosted our first annual American College of Diabetology conference. This two-day conference combined two conferences in one. The first day was a high-quality board review taught by our board members. Key diabetes concepts highlighted include current guidelines for diabetes diagnosis management treatment and diabetes complications. The second day of our conference was taught by experts in diabetes and focused on technology and advances in diabetes. The conference also provided an opportunity for diabetologists to meet and share ideas with like-minded colleagues and included a membership meeting. We anticipate revenue from this conference to be $30,020 when the conference manager completes their reconciliation.
