American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists advances the quality of veterinary medicine by certifying veterinarians who demonstrate excellence as specialists in veterinary ophthalmology. In 2022, the ACVO hosted a Service Dog Day and rolled out a new on-demand system for its annual conference which was used by over 100 additional attendees. The 2022 ACVO conference was attended by over 900 people and members were supplied with online access to all presentations.

Program areas at American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists

The 2023 ACVO annual conference was attended by nearly 1,000 attendees and vendors. In 2023, the ACVO re-launched its newly modernized member video library system which allows members and their residents searchible access to all past recorded events, including current presentations. Additionally, resident training support tools were added.
In 2023, the ACVO once again hosted its philenthropic event, the ACVO/EPICUR National Eye Exam Event during the month of May. since the year 2008 (excluding 2020 and 2021 due to covid cancellation) the 2023 event involved approximately 260 of its veterinary opthalmologist specialists in the us, canada, and puerto rico who volunteered to provide free screening eye exams to qualified service animals. member participation is voluntary and no compensation is received. our participating diplomate members have donated over 81,000 exams! ACVO estimates that services worth over $4,8000,000 have been donated to the service animal community as part of this event since inception.
Publish and own the Journal of Veterinary Ophthalmology a premier, peer-reviewed, international journal which publishes papers related to veterinary ophthalmology. An increasing number are being offered as open source annually.
