The Port Washington Teachers Association is a local Affiliate of New York State United Teachers and the America Federation of Teachers. Activities include collection of member dues, forwarding amounts to the NYS Union, negotiations with respect to labor contracts, scholarship donations, local educational issue campaigns, newsletter, educating members about NYS Union endorsements, membership meetings, conferences and workshops, other member benefits.
The Port Washington Teachers Association Retired Educators Chapter contributes to a scholarship fund, holds and annual breakfast, luncheon, publishes a newsletter, holds trips,and attends conferences and conventions, supports state and national education issues, corresponds frequently with retiree and in-service members regarding important issues; there are 2 general membership meetings, and frequent contact with legislators.
