Program areas at American Folklore Society

The organization served the field with our annual conference, drawing nearly 800 folklorists, as well as several smaller convenings; through the publication of the Journal of American Folklore and other publications of AFS sections; web publications of various best practice documents and white papers; the awarding of annual prizes, travel stipends, and honors in our field; and consultation across the field on various programs and initiatives. Our activities continue to support the membership and the field in broad ways that underscore the continued need for stewardship in scholarship and practice in the folk and traditional arts.
