Program areas at American Institute of Building Design
Certifications:national council of Building designer certification (ncbdc) is a designated body within the Institute whose sole purpose is to maintain and administer the aibd national certification examination. In addition, the certification process is available to all qualified Building designers regardless of their affiliation with any association.
Awards program:the American residential Design awards (arda) is the American Institute of Building Design's premier award program exhibiting Design excellence in the residential Building industry. It spotlights the most creative and innovative residential designers, builders, remodelers, architects, developers, land planners and interior designers in the nation. Every year, the awards program, recognizes exceptional Design in custom, builder model, pre-drawn and multi-family homes of all types and sizes, as well as remodeling, working drawings and projects "on the boards." As a leader in home Design recognition, the arda program has grown over the years to include categories in green Building, outdoor living and accessibility.
Conferences:during the fy 2018-2019, aibd hosted four educational conferences - (summer) atlanta, ga, (fall) austin, tx, (winter) clearwater, fl, (spring) wilmington, nc. All of the conferences include educational sessions and an architectural tour. The summer conference also includes corporate meetings (aibd board of directors and ncbdc board of examiners) and the American residential Design awards (arda) dinner. In addition, the summer conference is where the Institute names their designer of the year.
