Program areas at AIGA
Programs & events: aiga convened the aiga design conference in-person and online in october 2022 bringing together more than 1,300 attendees in seattle, Washington for an immersive exploration of the future of design; the aiga worldstudio scholarships program received 294 applications, 9 students were awarded scholarships and 4 students received honorable mention awards;; the 50 books / 50 covers competition received 696 entries; the 365: aiga year in design competition received xxx entries; 4 designers pursued the aiga professional design certification, with 1 designers becoming aiga-pd certified designers and 3 designers becoming aiga-dl certified designers.
Publishing: aiga's publications provide a critical forum for intellectual assessment of communications design and the profession. Numerous resources are provided on the website as part of aiga's authoritative voice on professional standards. Eye on design's award-winning digital publications cover the world's most exciting designers and the issues they care about.
Membership and chapter development: during fiscal year 2023 aiga reduced the amount of membership dues returned to chapters from 30% to 15%. In september 2023, aiga paused the return of membership dues to chapters. Aiga is exploring options to resume funding chapters. Chapter dues are used to fund events with invited speakers, professional development programs, exhibitions and activities to strengthen the local professional design community. Chapters are run by volunteer boards and add to the vitality of the organization by providing occasions for networking and continued exposure to information and opportunities for professional development.
