Provided social and recreational activities to further the comradeship among members who have been honorably discharged war-time veterans including, dinners and dances, operation of A sevice bar, and entertainment. Honored the memory of deceased veerams and members of the armed forces and aide in comforting their survivors. Encouraged patriotism by sponsoring and participating in activities and community events. Promoted the social welfare of the community and various other community organizations, such as schools and other community groups, also particpated in color guards.
Provided programs for children and youth members and those in the community, including children's holiday and patriotic day parties, school americanism awards and scholarships sponsoring athletic teams, boy and girl scouts, sea cadets, 4-h groups, boysx and girls' hospitals and child welfare programs.
Assisted in aiding the hospitalization, disabled and needy war veterans and thir dependents, including the widows and orphans of deceased members. Provided color guards at funerals of veterans and memorial services, visited sick or hospitalized members, veterans and their families, provided equipment, services, entertainment and support to patients in verteran's homes and veteran's hospitals.
