Program areas at American Legion - Dept of Colorado
The American Legion department of Colorado (American Legion) had approximately 18,000 members at the end of the year. During the year, the American Legion holds two major conventions/conferences for its members as well as other events and conferences throughout the year. These conferences and events provide education and information on specific topics on americanism and American Legion policy. The American Legion publishes the Colorado legionnaire and the observer only once during the year since it is available on their website.
The sons of the American Legion's main purpose is to support the American Legion. They help support veterans and their families while working with the American Legion family on the many programs and projects, which are geared to help veterans and their families, our nation's youth and our communities.

1. Donations to other charities. 2. High school oratorical scholarship program - this is a constitutional speech contest of which the purpose is to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the constitution of the united states on the part of high school students. Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak clearly and intelligently, and the preparation for acceptance of the duties and responsibilities, the rights and privileges of American citizenship.
