Program areas at American Legion Post 171
Youth programs: to include 6 college Scholarship grants of $1500 or $2000. Post also hosts annual Constitutional Speech Contest with cash awards to the 1, 2, and 3rd place winners. Also supported Boy's State participation and presented patriotism awards to local schools. Additionally, sponsored boys baseball team.
Held Community & Veteran Health Fair at the Post's facility on March 18, 2023. Provided screenings for blood glucose levels, blood pressure, and behavioral health. Provided information on nutrition, NARCAN training, and information on community and veteran resources.
Veterans and Community Benefits: Hosted a Memorial Day and Veterans Day services at our facility. Attendance from members and the community was approximately 150 people total. Provided flowers and fruit baskets to sick Veterans, members or spouses.
