Program areas at American Medical Society for Sports Medicine
Annual meeting - 1) to provide a valuable source of current cutting edge Medical knowledge to professionals actively engaged in treating athletic patients; 2) to provide an academic forum for physicians to discuss current and controversial issues in the field of Sports Medicine; and 3) to foster a collegial relationship among dedicated, competent Sports Medicine physicians who are recognized as experts by their peers and to provide a quality educational experience.
Msk conference - enhance the skills in diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound guided injections of common musculoskeltal (msk) problems. The goals and objectives of this program service are as follows: 1) develop competence in utilization of an ultrasound machine in msk scanning; 2) ultrasound exams; 3) identify anatomy during msk ultrasound; 4) understand and explain the indications and benefits of msk ultrasound and ultrasound guided injection; and 5) develop an understanding of and acquire skills in basic ultrasound guided injections.
Advanced team physician course - this course was sponsored by the acsm, amssm and aossm. The course objectives are: 1) to address state of the art and cutting edge issues and information concerning evaluation and management of Medical and musculoskeletal problems of the athlete; and 2) to ensure the team physician is exposed to the latest information in the field of Sports Medicine.
Ecg program - this training is an effort to train physicians in electrocardiogram interpretation in athletes. Research conference - this conference targets primary care Sports Medicine fellows initiating their training program. The course objectives are the following: 1) to provide a foundation for understanding research principles and methods; 2) to provide material that will aid in the construction and implementation of a scientifically sound research project; and 3) to network with other fellows in developing research and clinical ties.
