Description
Education and Community Service (Charity donations of materials and labor) "Advancing sewing as an art and life skill.". Our organization is run by volunteers and we are dedicated to educating the public on the life skill necessary to them by learning how to sew. We feel that this is a learning tool and has been forgotten in the education of our children. Educational and Community Service.

Program areas at American Sewing GUILD INC Sarasota Gulf Coast Chapter of the American Sewing GUILD

Our organization educates children and adults in the art of sewing. This is a skill needed throughout thier lived. We also sew for churches in our area who provide shelter to the homeless as well as veterans and our latest request has been from our local Project Heart for bags for homeless children can use for their few possessions. Some of the charities we contribute our sewing projects to are: Kids Quilts, Give the Kids the World, Paul Newmans Foundation, All Children's Hospital as well as both Manatee and Blake Hospitals. We do not get paid for our services, we donate our time. We do get donations, however not much in monatary donations usually fabric and notions to use for our programs. We have a 4-H Sewing Camp which we run every year for five days and we also participate in the Manatee and Sarasota County Fairs where we teach children sewing basics. Our donations last year were $400.
