Direct expenses of the annual conference, which included presentations on numerous scientific matters over a 5 day period and was attended by 119 medical professionals. The expenses include the publication of abstracts of the presentations.

During 2022, the board of directors authorized the funding of 3 research grants. The university of new mexico (dr. heather spader) was awarded a $20,000 grant. The title of the project is "normative head circumference values for new mexico native American children". The regents of the university of California (dr. Aria fallah) was awarded a $20,000 grant. The title of the project is "exploiting brain tissue biomechanical properties to define epileptogenic lesions in Pediatric epilepsy surgery". Vanderbilt university medical center (dr. christopher m. bonfield) was awarded a $20,000 grant. The title of the project is "serum biomarker discovery of early brain injury in patients with craniosynostosis". Pursuant to the terms of the grants, recipients must submit an interim progress report by december 1, 2022, and must present their findings at a future aspn meeting (2023 or 2024). Furthermore, a final report is due by june 1, 2023.
