Program areas at ASA
Advocacy: advocate to protect the rights of construction Subcontractors, specialty trade contractors and suppliers and improve the business environment before all branches and levels of government and the construction industry. Achievements included impacting key federal legislative and regulatory proposals concerning funding of construction, taxes, immigration, safety and health, and government procurement; developing model materials for and coaching state and local subcontractor organizations on their advocacy areas on issues such as payment, bidding and risk allocation; filing amicus briefs concerning subcontractor issues before numerous appeals courts; collaborating with other industry groups on best practices and standard documents.
Education: provide business management education to the construction industry. Achievements included providing educational programming for members and non-members through in-person events, written and recorded materials; teleconferences; and the internet, including webinars, teleconferences and discussion groups. Represented Subcontractors in other industry groups providing accreditation and certification.
Communications: communicate with members, prospective members, chapters and industry groups in a timely, focused, interactive and effective manner. Achievements included keeping members informed of current events and trends through regular newsletters, special reports, magazines, and web sites; encouraging communication among members and others through the internet; and communicating with and through the media.
