Program areas at American Women Artists
National museum exhibition: awa organized a national museum show in 2022 at customs house museum in Tennessee. These annual juried exhibitions provide our members with all-too-rare exposure and promotion of their work on a national scale and in a museum setting. This helps to elevate the work of all Women Artists. There were purchases at each of the past museum shows, providing an invaluable opportunity to increase the number of Women Artists in permanent collections of museums and fine art collectors. Program service accomplishments: all members in the show are juried for awards of cash and donated merchandise which helps to support their work in the field of the visual fine arts and to further their careers on a national level. The museum show opportunity has opened new levels of exposure and awareness of our Women Artists. Awa self-publishes an annual museum catalog which further promotes the mission of the organization and its Artists to a broad audience.
Other program services: awa organizes an annual symposium on Women in the arts which has been held in person and online. It was held online in 2022. - a roster of speakers lecture on a wide range of topics pertaining to Women in the visual arts. The symposium is offered free to the public. - awa sends out a monthly e-newsletter to over 4,000 contacts, publishing news and information about exhibitions and deadlines, and pertinent articles about Women Artists. - the organization provides educational opportunities with workshops, through painting, drawing, or sculpture
Annual online juried show: awa offered members the opportunity to jury into another online show in 2022. The experience of preparing work for a competition and competing for cash and merchandise awards is similar to a museum show and is more cost-effective for Artists to save shipping costs while also having a large potential viewership. For many members, this is the first show competition that they have ever entered. Finalists selected for the show receive excellent exposure on the awa website gallery and promotion of their work on a national scale; all of which increases the exposure of their work and elevates their stature in the art world.
