Program areas at Americans for Safe Access Foundation
ASAFs Safe Access for All Project educates patients on a framework for a national medical cannabis program that builds on the knowledge from the state-level experiment, and includes input from patients, regulators, researchers, medical professionals, medical cannabis providers and patient originations, and incorporates the experience of the 65 countries with federal medical cannabis programs.
Whats in Your Medicine is a project to help educate consumers and patients on the safety and quality of cannabis products. ASA explores the issues surrounding cannabis testing by identifying potential contaminants that could impact the health and well-being of patients and advocate for enhanced regulations and accurate labeling of cannabis products that help safeguard public health. In our report report: Regulating Patient Health: An Analysis of Disparities in State Cannabis Testing Programs, we examine the existing disparities between cannabis testing programs across the states as they relate to other regulated products, with a particular focus on their impact on patient health.
ASAFs Medical Cannabis Equity project was created for patients and consumers to address the issue of adult use programs taking over medical programs in their states. As states move forward with recreational adult-use laws and regulations, ASA created provisions that should be included in laws and regulations to ensure that patients remain a priority. ASA created theMedical Cannabis Equity Checklist, to address issues arising from regulating dual cannabis programs and to improve issues that have historically created challenges for patients.
