Amherst Community Connections

Acc received a grant from the mass. Dept of public health in nov. 2021. The grant allows acc to provide supportive housing to people who experience chronic homelessness and substance use disorders. Acc has secured 10 apartment units to 10 residents who are eligible for the service. It is a type of supportive housing-first program that acc has been operating since 2015. Every resident receives support service from their caseworkers to further their life skills in being responsible tenants and managing their finances responsibly while taking care of their own mental substance use, and physical health.

Acc received a grant from the town of Amherst to provide case management support and financial assistance to Amherst families who are experiencing financial challenges in making rent payments. Acc works with families to apply for raft funding to pay rent arrears and utility arrears. By doing so, acc helps Amherst families stabalize their housing and increase access to public benefits such as snap or fuel assistance.
