Program areas at Bechtler Museum of Modern Art
The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art offers an array of innovative opportunities for the community at large to enrich their cultural experiences, social engagement and personal self-discovery. During the 2022-23 fiscal year, the Museum offered the following programs: a variety of exhibitions of Art dedicated to Modern and contemporay Art, and public programs, such as modernism + film (investigated themes in Modern and contemporary Art and architecture through the lens of film). See schedule o for continuation jazz at the Bechtler (offered new perspectives on Modern jazz composers, legendary artists, and musical styles that grew in popularity in the mid-to-late 20th century), and music and Museum (offered classical ensemble performances in the galleries and lobby to complement the Art on view). In addition, guest lectures from artists, curators, and Art historians explored the many facets of Modern Art and architecture. Continuing in fy23 was the highly popular wednesday night live. This weekly program of free admission and planned programs on wednesday evenings was in partnership with the mint Museum and gantt center for afro-american Art + culture. The Museum presented pop to now: warhol and his legacy, an exhibition that explored the impact of the pop artist on subsequent generations of artists. It was the most popular exhibition in the Museum's history. The Museum made several key hires in fy23 including a new curator, chief of staff and head of education.
