Program areas at Animal Friends of Barbour County
We provide the service of receiving surrendered and abandoned cats from the public in Barbour County. We have received over 451 cats, providing them shelter, food, medications, and veterinarian care prior to adopting over 469 cats to local residents and to no-kill animal shelters in metropolitan areas outside of our county, benefitting those who adopt.
Because our no-kill animal shelter is located in a rural county with only about 16,000 households, we transport dogs and cats from our shelter to no-kill animal shelters in metropolitan areas where more animals can be adopted than in our county. This year, our transports have benefitted 656 people who have adopted our animals.
