Program areas at Animal Rights Coalition

Cuddle coatscuddle coats educates the public about the cruelty of the fur industry and encourages people to donate fur coats to aid orphaned and injured wildlife in their recovery at our many wildlife rehabilitation partners across the u.s. In 2019 we took in 356 fur donations from across the country, and we held five well attended volunteer cuddle coats prep sessions to prepare the furs for shipping to our rehab partners.
Education/community outreachin 2019, our community outreach activities included our farmers market outreach pogram, which reached an increased number of people interested in adopting a plant-based diet with 25 dates at 11 different locations. At each market, we provided information about how to transition to a plant-based diet, recipes, help to sign up for a personal mentor on our website, and info about all the resources we have availablewe also had informational booths and leafleting at large public events such as open streets lyndale, northeast, west broadway, and nicollet; the healthy life expo (both spring and fall), new brighton health & fitness expo, mctc involvement fair, longevity expo, mctc sustainability fair, rochester earthfest expo, may day parade, twin cities pride festival, duluth superior pride / bayfront pride festival, lake hiawatha neighborhood festival, u of m community involvement fair, and a lobby table at a jayhawks concert.our community outreach activities also included helping the hundreds of individuals who contacted us for assistance with everything from questions about puppy mills to how to humanely remove mice.
Ethique nouveauone of our more ambitious outreach projects is our all-vegan storefront, ethique nouveau. The store is completely cruelty-free and is one of the best ways we know to show people how easy it is to live compassionately, without causing harm to animals. The store not only provides a space where people can learn more about vegansim and find the products they want; it also shows the larger community that a significant number of people want to use products made without the use of Animal testing, ingredients, skins, or furs. The storefront allows us to reach as many people as months of leafleting and to have one-on-one conversations with hundreds of customers curious about adopting a plant-based diet. Its a great, non-threatening form of outreach. In tracking the conversations we have with people about Animal Rights, veganism, and other issues related to animals. In 2019 ethique nouveau had approximately 1,000 transactions, each interaction an opportunity for staff to introduce people to Animal issues and suggest resources for further learning (this number only includes people who made purchases; there were many additional visitors to the store who werent counted).
