Program areas at Anoka Community Mission
Little Blessing of Anoka Early Childhood Center (LBOA) provides affordable childcare for families living in the geographical area surrounding the childcare center. The childcare center is one of the least expensive childcare centers in the area and is unique in the sense that it provides families with private financial aid and financial education. The center also only charges families in arrears for the actual days that children attend. Beginning in 2017, LBOA operates 100% independent of any state of federal government funding. LBOA is the only component of ACM that has compensated staff, resulting in a significant portion of financial resources being able to be allocated to private scholarships to families in need. Due to a tight labor market, LBOA was unable to maintain staffing levels to meet early childhood licensing requirements and thus discontinued operations in 4Q 2023.
Tables of Blessing is Anoka Community Mission's food pantry, designed to provide food (both fresh and nonperishable), personal hygiene items, and diapers and baby wipes to the general public on a weekly basis. Anoka Community Mission (ACM) is a social needs non-profit organization that is made up of a family of ministries that serve to meet the basic needs of families, including affordable childcare, meals, clothing, and personal hygiene items. All of the financial resources donated to ACM general fund were used to meet these needs for families affiliated with the mission's childcare center, Little Blessing of Anoka, through a combination of direct distributions to families and the offsetting of operational expenses at the childcare center.
Anoka Community Mission's Starfish Fund provides scholarships and other need-based financial aid to families at Little Blessings of Anoka Childcare Center. Funding for this program is provided through private donations.
