Program areas at Anti-Violence Coalition of Hudson County
Anti violence Coalition of Hudson County administration(achc),- implemented systems created in 2022 to produce an expansion in programming to make a bigger impact in the lives of those who need their services throughout the year. Achc hosted over 12 community events directly in neighborhoods concentrated by violence to support victims and their familes. Those community events consist of a gathering of individuals who have suffered traumatically due to violence and trauma related to violence to enjoy an evening focused on health, wellness, healing and therapeutic services to support them on their journey. We utilize yoga instructors, sound bowls and meditation therapy, masseuse stations, art and culture activities, dinner and fellowship. Achc hosted 5 osha 30 training classes in the areas of construction, scaffolding, site safety and flagger training. Achc held carpentry and electrical training classes as part of our career building services program.
Achc administration coordinated community engagement events - hosted weekly occupy the corners engaging residents living in those neighborhoods where violence is concentrated. Achc hosted survivor support groups virtually through zoom every saturday, serving more than 200+ survivors of violence by connecting them to therapeutic services with a licensed social worker. Achc referred more than 100+ victims of violence and trauma to the trauma recovery center(tra)through their partnership with the jersey city medical center and robert wood johnson foundation. Through achcs partnership with the state of new jersey they filed more than 30 applications for victims through their victims of violent crimes compensation office(vcco)and they all received compensation in areas of loss of wages relocation, medical expenses, funeral expenses, food insecurity,therapeutic and legal aid services. Achc distributed more than 200+ gift cards to victims of violence.
