Program areas at Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia

Founded in 1983, the Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia (avp) is the only organization in Philadelphia whose mission is to end the cycle of violence by providing free intervention, prevention, and support services to children, youth, and adult victims of violence and co-victims of homicide. Avp was originally founded as a support group for families who had lost a loved one to homicide. Avp's original program, families of murder victims, quickly became a valuable support for co-victims of homicide by offering court accompaniment, advocacy, and immediate support. That program continues today. Avp provides further critical support services to victims of violence and co-victims of homicide through its west/southwest victim services and counseling center. Avp also provides prevention and trauma therapy services to students, and psychoeducational support to staff, administrators, and caregivers, in nearly 40 Philadelphia public schools.
