Program areas at Araminta Freedom Initiative

Survivor services - Araminta Freedom Initiative serves the state of Maryland by providing anti-human trafficking and post-trafficking resources to those commercially exploited as a child. Araminta currently accepts girls and those identifying as female between the ages of 12 - 25. Services for survivors combine care coordination, ensuring youth have access to housing, education and services needed to build a new life as well as sustained relationships rooted in a mentorship program, designed in alignment with evidence-based national mentorship models. Araminta also provides survivors with advocacy and provisional services.
Volunteer network - to increase the safety net for children in the state of Maryland and to meet the needs of those trafficked as children, Araminta leverages an extensive volunteer network, after background checks and extensive training, volunteers who serve as mentors to survivors agree to a one year commitment which includes a minimum of 2 outings per month and weekly contact. Volunteer advocates also accompany survivors to various meetings and outings, assist with transportation to medical appointments and job interviews as well as participate in meeting tangible needs through supply drives
Preventive education in schools, churches and community settings. Educational programs focus on identifying risk factors, how trafficking presents in a child in various settings, impacts of trafficking and how to respond if trafficking is suspected, Araminta partners with state and local departments of education to provide education across Maryland as well as providing education in clinical settings.
