Program areas at Arizona American Indian Tourism Association
On february 5-6, 2022, in partnership with Arizona's twenty-two native American tribes and the city of scottsdale, the Association hosted the annual Arizona Indian festival held in the scottsdale civic center plaza. The festival presented to the general public a unique Arizona native experience including contemporary native artists, traditional and fusion foods prepared from local and foraged ingredients, performances of native storytelling, music, dance and song, a native artisan market and family and children's activities. The festival afforded tribal travel and Tourism offices an opportunity to showcase their native destinations to the public. In 2022 the Association separated one of the festival's more popular events, the Arizona native edible experience, from the february festival to its own presentation on november 18, to celebrate native American heritage month. In partnership with western spirit scottsdale's museum of the west, a smithsonian affiliate, the Association delivered a unique and authentic Arizona culinary and cocktail tasting event, silent auction, curated films and live performances, and gave a platform to indigenous agrotourism businesses within the Arizona tribes.
