Aawc is a primary health care facility that provides high-quality preventive medical services to women/mothers and their families in armenia. Aawc focuses on early and accurate detection and treatment of breast and cervical cancer, two of the most common causes of cancer deaths among women in armenia, according to the world health organization. In 2023, aawc installed new ct scan equipment and established a gastroenterology department.presently, aawc operates the following ten departments: 1. Breast screening & diagnosis, established in 19972. Gynecology, established in 20013. Pathology lab for cytology & histology, established in 20014. Family medicine & endocrinology, established in 20035. Pharmacy, established in 20106. Urology, including prostate cancer screening, established in 20117. Dental health: two dental clinics & a dental lab, established in 20138. Ambulatory (outpatient) surgery, established in 20139. Diagnostic imaging: ct-scanner, digital x-ray, established in 2015 osteoporosis screening (on dexa unit), established in 200610. Orthopedic department, established in 2016.in addition, aawc organizes medical outreach missions in all 11 districts of armenia to provide free-of-charge medical services to underserved and vulnerable populations, who do not have access to high-quality care in their remote communities and cannot afford to travel to aawc located in the capital city of yerevan, armenia. From 1997 through 2017, a total of 353 outreach medical missions were organized in all 11 administrative districts of armenia, and a total of 28,014 services were provided to 22,036 patients, all free of charge.aawc also oversees its satellite clinic in gavar, located in the mountainous region of gegharkunik on the shore of lake sevan (the second highest lake in the world). The satellite clinic organizes free annual health fairs, provides preventive healthcare services, and educates the population on the importance of healthier lifestyles. To date, the gavar satellite clinic administered 20,999 healthcare services to 15,777 patients.daily, between 160 and 200 patients visit aawc in the capital city of yerevan. The number of patients continues to grow. From 1997 to 2017, 417,498 patients registered at aawc received 530,254 services. In 2017 only, 45,003 patients sought 54,803 medical services at aawc. The fees charged for medical services at aawc remain affordable for the majority of the population.
