Program areas at Hahamongna Native Plant Nursery

The Arroyo Seco Watershed Coordination Program is designed to improve the capacity of local residents, organizations and agencies to better manage and improve the Arroyo Seco Watershed and its natural resources. The key goals are to promote: water conservation, improved water quality, and community and institutional partnerships to accomplish these goals. ASWC also works to promote sustainable watershed management, including sediment management and habitat restoration and sponsors the Save Hahamongna Campaign. The Arroyo Seco Native Trout Restoration project is also part of this program.
Environmental Education and Action Programs - This program conducts educational programs for a broad range of people in nature and science. It emphasizes sustainable approaches to resource management and conservation. This category also includes general administrative expenses. This year the program included a focus on water policy and conservation.
Hahamongna Native Plant Nursery is a conservation and community education program of the Arroyo Seco Foundation. This native plant nursery has raised more than 40,000 plants from over 100 distinct native species. Plants are propagated from genetically-appropriate, locally-sourced material from within the Arroyo Seco watershed. The nursery only raises native, non-hybridized plants because of their proven history of being best-suited for the region. These plants are used for habitat restoration programs and for water-conserving landscaping, an important priority given California's recent long drought. Volunteer involvement and educational programs are also part of the nursery's achievements.
This includes other program activity not covered by the three primary areas.
