Program areas at Art2action
A2A ORIGINALS: As part of our on-going new works creation series, "A2A Originals," we developed and presented new work by commissioned artists including Celeste Miller, Dora Arreola, Heather Raffo, Andrea Assaf, and more. Expenses include artist fees for collaborating artists, travel and accommodations, per diem, etc.
VETERAN ARTS: One of our community engaged program areas is to provide events for military veterans, including our Veteran Community Open Mic. In 2022, we held 4 quarterly open mic events in partnership with the Straz Center for the Performing Arts and Paint22, a local veteran-led organization that raises awareness about veteran suicide and prevention through the visual arts.
DIRECTING INSTITUTE: "Writer's Laboratory & Professional Peer Exchange," a component of the National Institute for Directing & Ensemble Creation, was co-organized and co-directed by Art2Action and Pangea World Theater. Core Institute faculty and field leaders gathered for an intensive exchange and writing retreat, centering the work of BIPOC/directors of color, women and LGBTQ2+ directors.
ONLINE PROGRAMMING: In 2022, Art2Action launched "Reflecting Forward" a free three-event series co-presented by Animating Democracy, a program of Americans for the Arts, in collaboration with HowlRound. Art2Action also participated in several virtual screenings of the award-winning digital film by Andrea Assaf, "Eleven Reflections on September," in such arenas as the National Performance Network's virtual annual conference showcase, and Oregon Health & Science University's Diversity Awareness Through the Arts & Culture Series, and co-produced new digital media works including "Murmurs of the River" with the University of South Florida.
