Theater: our 21-22 season was inching back from covid. We had a critically successful first show back, reaching goals but were forced to cancel our second show of the season due to the omicron variant. Our third show of the season was a first for Artistry with an all black female creative team leading a successful show including a feature in the star tribune. In fy 2022 Artistry focused on returning to providing in person arts experiences to our community. The challenges of covid continued but we were still able to provide 100s of artists with work in their field through our galleries, performances and education classes. We moved to professional status as a theater company providing more union jobs and higher pay. While challenging, this also allowed us to attract a new, more diverse talent pool and raise the level of excellence in our productions.
Visual arts and creative placemaking: in fy 2022 the galleries in the Bloomington Center for the arts was able to return to hosting artists and exhibitions. We partnered with the mall of america presenting a pride focused exhibit in june featuring lgbtqi+ artists in east Bloomington and we thrilled to begging work to get the confluence gallery up and running post- covid.
Education: the education programs continued to engage community consistently through summer camps, adult classes and outreach to nursing homes and woman shelters. These programs served 314 adults and 23 children.
