Program areas at Arts Center in Orange
Classes and camps- the Arts Center in Orange offers low-cost artist led classes and workshops to the general public with the goal of increasing the quality of life in our community through skill-builind and creative exploration. Classes for both childern and adults are taught in ceramics, fiber Arts, jwerely, drawing and painting. We also offer a free art class for the children on the last saturday of each month. A total of 93 classes and camps were offered, taught by 94 artists and attended by 989 adults and 257 children.
The morin gallery-- featuring 6 exhibitions annually, the gallery exhibition program showcases the work of fine and contemporary artists. This program both supports local artists and provides exposure to t he Arts for over 30,000 residents of Orange county, va. all exhibitions are free and open to the public. During the fiscal year and despite the onset of the pandemic in early 2020, we were still able to mount 5 exhibitions featuring 32 artists and visited by over 4,000 people.
The community outreach program-- the art'Arts's Center education program, called the "the community outreach program" is entirely funded by grants and donations. Through this program we work with teaching artists to provide Arts education to traditionally underserviced populations, including: seniors, economically-disadvantaged youth and differently-abled person. This program accomplishes it education goals through art classes, special exhibitions, musical concerts, and other presentations of art and music. There were 136 events and workshops, reaching over 1,500 youth and approximately 1,000 adults. in response to the pandemic, the program was also expanded to include 28 online art educational videos which were viewed collectively 1,5000 times.
