Program areas at Asian American Advocacy Fund

Nonpartisan voter education and engagement - We conducted a series of phonebanking, door knocking, and paid media campaigns to help educate voters ahead of key elections. These programs were nonpartisan in nature, and helped to navigate the new voting laws after SB 202 was passed in Georgia.
Expanded our community organizing and membership program- We built and sustained year-round community organizing and base building efforts, reaching AAPI communities not only widely but also deeply. Some newly introduced programming this cycle included our visibility and pop-up party events. Throughout 2022, we hosted over 60 events which drew more than 1,900 attendees. These events served to create organic opportunities in AAPI dense community centers for our base to join in a fusion of AAPI cultural components (to create solidarity across the community), while uplifting education about the importance of voting and defining what was at stake politically. Many folks noted that they had never seen an event like this, and enjoyed the fusion of cultural components, food, and dance with an opportunity to learn more about civic engagement.
Expanded our legislative advocacy program - We engaged in advocacy at the state level around key voting rights and immigrant rights legislation, while encouraging community members to get involved in advocacy efforts.
