Health literacy and access to health services - aacf improves the lives of Frederick county's residents, especially immigrants and minorities, by improving access to healthcare services, resources, and information through its diverse and multi-lingual team of certified community health workers. By doing so, aacf brings equity and positively impacts social determinants of health (non-medical factors that influence health outcomes) for underrepresented communities, improving their overall quality of Life.
Financial literacy - aacf equips immigrant adults with education, tools, and resources, to gain an understanding and practical knowledge of family finances and the effect that it has on their health and wellbeing.
Retired & senior volunteer program - aacf administers senior volunteer programs funded by americorps seniors (corporation for national and community service), which provides Frederick county's residents of age 55+ with opportunities to serve their country, addressing the most pressing challenges, and improving lives and communities in which they live.
Language resource and community health services aacf provides interpretation and community health worker services to local businesses that are looking to improve customer satisfaction and to extend their services to foreign born and limited english proficiency clientele.
Community health worker training program - aacf is an accredited community health worker (chw) training and apprenticeship Center in the state of Maryland. Chws are frontline public health workers with a strong understanding of the communities they serve. By creating this diverse and multilingual workforce, aacf provides opportunities for the immigrant and minority residents to make positive changes in socioeconomic inequities of their communities, while increasing culturally and linguistically competent public health workforce
Family support services aacf offers comprehensive, family centered, community-based preventive programs for parents, caregivers and their children, ages birth to four. Through family support services, aacf promotes the full development and wellbeing of children, enhances the quality of parent and child interactions, and serves as the link to services for overall parent and family self-sufficiency and sustainability.
Cultural enrichment aacf enriches the lives of Frederick county's residents by educating them about the traditions and history of our diverse communities. By facilitating cross-cultural communication and acceptance, aacf aims to address systematic racism, inherit biases, and discrimination that are prevalent in our society.
Citizenship & integration services aacf offers a year-round program with weekly english as a second language classes and one-on-one civics coaching. The goal of this program is to prepare immigrants for the naturalization process, including assistance with n-400 application, as well as english proficiency and knowledge of u.s. history and government testing.
Refugee/immigrant resettlement aacf assists resettlement of refugees to Frederick county through in-kind and financial support, including navigation of social services, assistance with living expenses, and connection to local support networks. Aacf is one of the key members of the refugee welcoming committee of Frederick county.
Direct client support aacf provides direct financial assistance to support its community members that are going through extreme financial hardship due to devastating Life events, such as major illness, death of loved one, and chronic disease.
