Program areas at Assistance League of Covina Valley
Learning center - tutoring by credentialed or highly qualified teachers and tutors with a math or science related degree at reduced rates to children 6-18 years of age to provide opportunities for maximum development of their learning potential. This year, a total of 60 students were tutored for a total of 1,507 hours.
Assault survivor kits - kits are provided to local hospital emergency rooms and crisis centers. They contain clothing and personal hygiene items for survivors of rape or assault. A total of 120 kits this year.
Operation school bell - has provided school uniforms, jackets, shoes and other clothing items to children through grade 12. A total of 1,033 children were assisted this year.
Community services - the chapter provides good quality used clothing, new personal care items, and holiday food baskets to men, women and children who are in need or crisis. These clients are referred by contracted social service agencies that serve the local communty. In addition, bears are distributed to those in need through the local police and fire stations as well as hospitals. The chapter served 5,788 individuals this year.
