Program areas at Assistance League of Kansas City
Operation school bell provides new clothing, shoes, hygiene supplies and books to school children grades k - 12 in eight school districts in the community. 4,579 children were served in the fiscal year ending 5/31/23.
Ask provides personal care items for assault survivors in the Kansas City area. Kits contain new clothing and personal hygiene items for both male and female survivors. 1,170 kits were distributed by mocsa in the fiscal year ending 5/31/23.
Operation child in need helps children whose families are unable to provide the things that would help their educational, physical, emotional or social development. During the fiscal year, 1,542 school-aged children & young adults were provided back packs with school supplies, food, clothing, eye glasses, etc.
- operation hug provides teddy bears to children in crisis situations in clay, platte, and jackson counties. - i'm in charge provides materials to schools in cass, clay, ray, buchanan, platte and jackson counties for safety skills courses taught to elementary aged children. - senior outreach service provides aid and friendship to senior citizens residing at area senior care facilities as well as, northland shepard center and platte county senior services.- outreach offers resources for short-term needs in the community.- operation celebration provides cake mix, party supplies, and a gift to children celebrating birthdays or other occasions while in community shelters as well as food for operation uplift.- scholarship program awards scholarships to deserving candidates to assist them in paying for post-secondary education. Currently, scholarships are awarded to high school seniors, and non-traditional students attending area community colleges.
