Assistance League of Minneapolis/St. Paul transforms lives of children and adults through community programs, feeding and clothing children, enhancing and enriching education, and supporting the community as a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization. Operation School Bell provides new school uniforms to economically disadvantaged children, giving out 1,895 items of clothing to 1,690 students in FY ending 5/31/23. The program Assault Survivor KitsASK furnishes hospitals statewide with new clothing and hygiene items for survivors of sexual assault, sending out 805 kits throughout MN in FY23.

Clothes for kids - provides new school uniforms, casual clothing, spirit wear, winter wear and hygiene items to our school partners ensuring that every child arrives at school ready to learn. In 2023-2024, clothing was provided to over 5,630 students at our partner schools in minneapolis, richfield, and st. Paul.
Links to learning - awards grants to teachers and staff for enrichment projects that improve student achievement, build community and enhance curriculum. In 2023-2024, we awarded 130 grants that positively affected 19,632 students at over 50 schools in minneapolis, richfield, st. Paul, and south st. Paul.
Food for kids - distributes weekend food to students and young adults experiencing food insecurity. In 2023-2024, 7,480 weekend food packs were delivered to over 700 recipients at 4 minneapolis schools. In partnership with every meal weekend food packs were provided to 41 students at bethune elementary and 2,136 summer meal bags were provided through libraries in north minneapolis. In partnership with oasis for youth, easy to access, heat, and carry food items were donated on a quarterly basis. These items were distributed by oasis for youth staff to homeless and highly mobile youth ages 16-24 in bloomington, edina, and richfield. 750 youth were served during 2023-24 through oasis for youth.
Academic all stars - recognizes students for achievements as determined by school staff, because every child can achieve something. In 2023-2024, 7 events were scheduled during the fall, winter and spring. All events were held at the schools. 308 minneapolis and st. Paul students were honored in grades prek-5. They each received an aas shirt, wristband, framed photo and certificate. Start smart - provides essential items to promote academic success and to support students and young adults. During 2023-2024, approximately 1,000 students in minneapolis, richfield, st. Paul, and so. St. Paul schools received needed items including winter wear, clothing, hygiene products, earphones, books, games, bus passes, gas cards and gift cards to support learning. Literacy+ (plus) - provides one on one literacy mentoring, author visits, special events and books to take home at bethune elementary school. In 2023-2024, 41 second grade students received 16 books throughout the year. They also received access to two web-based interactive reading programs (reading a-z & raz kids). All of bethune's 16 classrooms/teachers and their students benefited from having access to these interactive programs. Our school reads - encourages a love of reading and builds community by providing books to an entire school or community of students. In 2023-2024, books were distributed at 5 schools in the minneapolis district, 3 schools in the richfield district, south st. Paul middle school and through 3 schools and project reach in the st. Paul district. A total of 3,831 students received books during 2023-24. Assault survivor kits - provides new clothing and hygiene items to hospital emergency rooms statewide for survivors of sexual assault. In 2023-2024, 392 assault survivor kits with clothing and hygiene items were mailed to hospital emergency rooms statewide. Kits are created for women, men and children. 100 welcome packs were provided for children at sojourner project as well as requested items for women in their program. Blankets and sheets were provided to the minneapolis police sex crimes unit for survivors of sexual assault. In total more than 500 individuals were served through this project. Scholarships - post-secondary scholarships were awarded to students at 2- and 4-year colleges, technical schools and certificate programs. In 2023- 2024, second year scholarships of 1,500 were continued for 3 richfield high school graduates and an additional 4 first year scholarships for richfield high school graduates were awarded for a total scholarship amount of 10,500. Ongoing scholarships were continued for 3 students at minneapolis college (1,000 per semester for 2 semesters) and 3 new students were awarded scholarships (1,000 per semester for 2 semesters) for a total annual scholarship amount of 12,000 at minneapolis college. Between these two locations, the overall scholarship program expanded this year to include a total of 13 students and a total dollar amount of 22,500. Gifting - ensures that all thrift shop donations make their way into the community through partner organizations.
