Program areas at Assistance League of Salt Lake City

Operation school bell- students from head start to junior high referred by school counselers are outfitted with clothing including pants/leggings, shirts, hoodies, parkas, socks and underwear. Over 4,370 students were served. New shoes were distributed to 900 elementaty students. Assistance League also paid for 390 middle school students to shop for clothing at old navy and to purchase shoes at dicks sporting goods. 3 ipads and 3 elite books were donated to special education classrooms in two disticts along with 3 evacuation wheelchairs.
Baby bundles - complete layettes of clothing and supplies for a baby's first months of life were given to newborns in need. 1000 newborns were served in fy 2022-2023
Operation healthy teeth - urgent dental treatment is provided to referred children that do not have insurance, do not qualify for public programs or do not have financial means to obtain care. Assistance League of Salt Lake City partners with dentists, oral surgeons and orthodontists that contribute thirty to seventy percent of the cost. 159 children received treatment in fy 2022-23 with Assistance League paying an average cost of $1,000 per child.
Book bank- during fy 2022-2023 15,924 books were delivered to students at head start and title one elemenary and middle school programs.
Victims of sexual assault - 533 individuals received kits of new clothing and hygiene supplies at the conclusion of their forensic exam in fy 2022-2023. Victims clothing is taken by authorities for evidence.
Brighter tomorrows - women and men select clothing suitable for re-entering the workforce or continuing their education from the Assistance League thrift shop and receive a supply of hygiene products and gift cards for haircare and shoes. Clients are referred by twenty-two community agencies; there were 345 recipients in fy 2022-2023. Mothers and fathers' day gifts were also given to homeless shelter residents.
Eye on the community - serves emerging needs in the community. In fy 2022-2023 eye on the community bought linens, hygiene products and personal items for 60 residents of a hospice for the homeless; 1500 people were impacted by donations to a local homeless dining center/food and clothing pantry. Washer, dryer and tables were donated along with clothing and personal items for individuals; we provided packages of cleaning supples to refugees; provided clothing, hygiene products and gift cards to students at a non-traditional high school and 10 computers for top students at that school heading to college.
The assisteens auxiliary of Assistance League of Salt Lake City - is made up of teens from seventh through twelfth grade who perform service projects and help with chapter programs. Some fy 2022-2023 selected projects included: 50 books and plush animals, head start; 50 turkey dinner boxes, palmer court; 50 stockings and 55 bunny baskets for children, family suport ctr. 127 valentines gifts, va medical ctr; 72 bags for teens in foster care, 72 essential kits, Utah refugees
