Advocating for policies that support the rights of children and increase the availability of Montessori education to all children. This is achieved through affiliation with other national and International education and human rights groups.
Ami/usa facilitates consultation visits for schools that are ami-montessori schools with ami consultants. the consultants are experts in the field of Montessori education. Approximately 90% of the consultants currently hold positions at Montessori teacher training centers or Montessori schools. the remainder have held positions in the past and are currently retired from those positions. Thirty-four consultants made 113 trips to 85 schools that were due for required visits. In addition to the classroom observations, 35 parent talks and teacher workshops were conducted.
To further the professional development of adults who educate children using the Montessori method, the annual refresher course and workshops are conducted annually. the conference, attended by Montessori teachers, school administrative personnel, classroom assistants, and parents, focused on honing techniques of all those whose life's purpose is improving the condition of children in our society. Participants traveled from 30 States, the u.s. virgin islands, and 6 foreign countries.
