Association of Organ Procurement Organizations

The aopo government affairs department encompasses the entirety of aopo's advocacy efforts with regards to legislative and regulatory agencies, at both the state and national level. This work includes educating policy makers about potential impacts of proposed regulations and providing a pathway for aopo members to contribute to the drafting of documents such as comment letters and replies to requests for information issued by regulatory agencies. The public affairs department is responsible for educating the public on the Organ donation and transplantation process. It develops educational tools and resources aimed at the public audience to encourage more people to register as Organ and tissue donors.

The remaining programs of aopo are focused on sharing and spreading best practices among the various functional areas of an opo with the entire membership, as well as providing a forum for members to ask questions and seek assistance from other members with currentchallenges.
