Maintains Historical museum which tells the history of Atchison County, Kansas and immediate surrounding areas. Operations include exhibit design and construction, setting up temporary exhibits, hosting functions & meetings for organizations with similar goals. Open to visitors 360 days per year. Also houses an onsite research area and Historical site office.
Educational programming for adult and k-12 audiences. Adult programming is primarily special events with six or more times per year for area youth.
Owns and maintains the lewis and clark campsite, a natural setting along independence and deer creeks. Includes maintaining and placing signage about this site, hosting educational activities, trail maintenance, etc.
