Program areas at Athens County Historical Society

In the 2021 fiscal year, the Southeast Ohio History Center completed necessary repairs to the roof of our building and renovated an interior space behind our Great Hall into a reception area with funding from local donors. We received a planning grant from Ohio Humanities to pilot a new form of interactive, multimedia historic markers through a partnership with a local producer. We also worked extensively with a local exhibit design firm to develop an exhibit focused on the history of southeast Ohio, and geared to third and fourth grade students. Finally, through exhibits, educational programs, and events, we reached more than 6,000 adults and students in southeast Ohio. We are looking forward to launching a capital campaign in the coming year and continuing to grow into a regional history hub.
