Program areas at Attorney General'S Sexual Assault Task Force
Oregon satf's prevention programming includes our rape prevention and education (rpe) program, the bridge project, and our arpa funded prevention capacity building program. Rpe and arpa programs provided funding to local community-based programs across the state to develop and enhance local violence prevention efforts. All elements of our prevention programming aim to stop violence before it occurs and create safer, healthier communities. Specific accomplishments within these programs during this year included increased collaboration with child abuse service providers, multiple virtual training opportunities for programs and communities, and supporting members of our prevention and education committee in strategic planning for statewide violence prevention work.
Oregon satf's campus program provides tailored technical assistance, training, program development, and implementation support to all of Oregon's 40+ colleges and universities. This work is provided to increase safety, wellness, and success for students across Oregon's institutions of higher education. The campus program provides Oregon's only campus-specific 40-hour advocacy training (required for advocate certification in Oregon) and delivers expert support on rules, policies, and practices related to title ix, confidentiality and privacy for student survivors, campus-based medical care, and more. This program also serves as the dedicated technical assistance provider for Oregon voca campus grantees (a program funded by the Oregon dept of justice).
Our Sexual Assault nurse examiner (sane) program provides training and technical assistance to the Oregon sane workforce. The sane program, with support from our in-house Sexual Assault training institute (sati), provided quarterly training in various regions in Oregon to sanes-in-training. This training fulfills the didactic requirement for sane certification in the state. This program also operates a 24/7 technical assistance line, providing live support to sanes in order to serve and support survivors of Sexual Assault who arrive at hospitals or local clinics for care and to complete a Sexual Assault forensic exam. The sane coordinator staffs Oregon satf's medical forensic committee, bringing together multidisciplinary partners in efforts to improve systemic responses to Sexual Assault survivors in medical settings.
Oregon satf's Sexual Assault training institute (sati) is the hub for training, technical assistance, and local support to people and organizations working on Sexual Assault response within the criminal justice system. This includes law enforcement, prosecutors, and members of Sexual Assault response teams (sarts). During this year, the sati coordinator began development of a sart map, which will become an online resource for anyone across the state looking for region-specific support and provided training to local sarts in various Oregon counties. This work is done with an aim to improve criminal justice system responses for better outcomes for survivors and to reduce potential harm on victims who are interacting with criminal justice systems.
