Program areas at Augustana Arts
Music Encounters was formed in 2002 to offer violin and cello instruction to economically disadvantaged children in six schools and community sites in the Denver metro area. The program provided musical instruction to 85 at-risk children as well as enhancing skills in self-discipline and confidence. While enrollment is back to pre-pandemic levels, the number of schools offering the program is reduced from pre-pandemic levels. However, new schools are being added as the year progresses.
The Augustana Arts concert series presents locally and nationally acclaimed musicians in a wide variety of concerts presented at Augustana Lutheran Church as well as managing independent concerts at the church. Four live concerts were presented to a total of 558 audience members during the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024.
Augustana Arts supports musical performance opportunities through the Stratus Chamber Orchestra which engages 40 community musicians who share a vision of performing the finest musical experiences in innovative settings. Stratus provided five live concerts for a total audience of 651 during the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024.
